Previous Life of King Ugrasena: Garga Samhita Canto 7.1


This is the first part of Garga Samhita Canto 7 (Chapters 1-9) written by Sri Garga Muni. He is recognized as highly elevated in austerity and penance. He lived at the time of Lord Krsna’s appearance on earth and was the family priest of the Yadu dynasty. He was not only an ordinary person as seen by material senses, he was also a great authority in the knowledge of astrology.


Sri Garga Muni describes why Sri Krsna established Ugrasena as the emperor of the Yadavas. King Ugrasena receives blessing from Krsna to perform the Rajasuya sacrifice and launches Pradyumna on the digvijaya tour in preparation for the sacrifice. Further Sri Garga Muni describes the story of King Maruta, Abhiseka ceremony of Pradyumna, The conquest of Yadava Army, Pradyumna’s Digvijaya Tour, How Pradyumna conquers Kaccha and Klainga, Gurjara and Cedi-desa, Marudhanva, Malava and Mahismati..
